A fishing article for you to read Helping You To A Great Fishing Adventure: Humminbrid Fishfinder 515

Author: Niall Pesci
The Humminbird Fishfinder 515 offers many of the things you need to be a successful fisherman. It offers a great overall package of features that allow you to see what's happening below your boat, to react to it and to bring home your fish each time you set out on the water. Imagine being able to tell your friends about the huge fish you caught or being able to walk through the door with a cooler full of your favorite catch! The Humminbird Fishfinder 515 allows you to do just that. Here are some of the features that make it so great. The Humminbird Fishfinder 515 allows you to see what is happening below the surface of the water. You can do this with this high definition four inch screen. It is a good size to see clearly what you need to. But, what does it show you? It uses Real Time Sonar to capture an image of what's happening below. This is a very powerful sonar signal that delivers images up to 40 times a second! That means you have virtually a live picture of the water and floor. Why use this? Simple. You get high quality shots that you can use to locate the fish, see where it's heading and to know where to place your line. But, that is not all you get with the 515. In fact, to make your image even better, you get something called the Sonar Echo Enhancement. This is an excellent feature. When tested, it can show a tiny BB pellet 40 feet below the surface! So, what does this do for your fishing experience? You can see your bait when vertical jigging. Yes, you can see your bait and see the fish react to it! Imagine seeing your bait luring in your fish and then seeing him get hooked! Excellent. With the Humminbird 515's ease of use, (it features a quick disconnect with no cables to deal with) and its great, high quality features, it is a perfect tool for the fisherman no matter if you are a professional or a beginner. You will love how much help it can give you and the excitement it can add to your next fishing trip. The Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying

Renowned writing team Ted Leeson and Jim Schollmeyer have done it again!

Following the incredible success of The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference, this popular duo has created another unique fly-tying book.

The first 25 pages of this oversized, spiral-bound book are filled with fly-tying techniques, the last 164 pages are cut horizontally across the page. The top half of the page shows tying steps for numerous patterns, and includes references to techniques that are explained step by step in the bottom half. Now you are free to look at the fly you are tying, while getting detailed instructions on a specific technique required for that fly. This groundbreaking book is sure to thrill all fly tiers.

Customer Review: For beginners and advanced fly-tyers

I bought this book for my husband, who had only been tying his own flies for 2 months. He had a book that came with his kit, but he'd already mastered all those and was ready to move on. This book, The Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying, was a huge hit with him. It not only works because it deals with many beginner techniques, but also because it has carried him along as his skills have improved. In fact, I don't know that he'll ever need another book, because this one covers all skill ranges. According to him, the pictures are great, very detailed, and he loves that he can lay the book flat (because of the spiral binding), instead of having to put something heavy on the page to hold it down while he works. He said he probably won't ever have to buy another fly! Overall, a great book and I, and he, highly recommend it.

Customer Review: The most User Freindly I Fly Tying Reference I own

A unique How To Guide for fly tying. This reference covers many techniques from basic clamping of the hook to advanced techniques such as parachutes and wonder wings. The Patterns illustrated were chosen not to be a complete selection of must have flies but rather as a set to incorporate all of the techniques required to create a fly for any situation. All of the fly patterns, techniques and step by step instructions are photographically depicted in stunning detail. If I had had this book 30 years ago I would be a much more accomplished hobbyist then I am now. The feature that sets this book apart from the pack is the split pages in the body of the book. A well illustrated step by step process for tying an indivifual pattern is on the top half of the page detailed depictions of individual techniqies are on the bottom. So if you are, for example , tying a parachute Adams the pattern is on the top half and as yoou progress through the tie the individual methods are referenced on the bottom so when the pattern calls for a post you can turn to the section depicting the proper way to tie the post without losing the pattern. I have been tying flies since the seventies and I found a great deal to like about this book. I highly reccomend this to any level tyer but especially for beginner to intermediate tyers. A much more useful and user freindly tome than the more complete "Benchside Reference" given the chance to only own one of these two references I would purchase this one.

Author: Nomad Rick
Coming up with fly fishing gift ideas is a surprisingly simple task. Here are a few fly fishing gift ideas that will make great Christmas presents. Fly Fishing Gift Ideas Fly fishing is much more than just a rod, fly, water and fish. Don't scoff. This is true and gives you plenty of fly fishing gift ideas for Christmas presents. 1. Wading Staff Picture it in your mind. A clear, green river flowing through majestic trees. The sun filtering through the leaves of the shadowy banks. A fly fisherman wading out into the streamslipping and falling on his butt in the water. Ahhh, it was going so well! A Fly Fishing Wading Staff can keep derrieres dry by giving you something to support yourself while walking across wet rocks and slimy things in the deep. Typical staffs retract into a shorter stub for easy packing. Expect to pay between $40 and $60 for something of solid construction. A great fly fishing gift. 2. Quick Seine Nets Ask a fly fisher about how to pick the best fly for a location and you'll get a lecture on nymphs. By nymphs, I mean the insects, not the randy historical figures. With fly fishing, insects tell the story on rivers. The Quick Seine Nets are tailored to help fisherman quickly and easily analyze the insect population at a fishing spot. The nets act like a sieve in the water and let you scoop up the local insect population. The size of a racquetball racket, you can free hand them or attach them to your fish nets. Quick Seine Nets come in a few sizes, but cost no more than $25. Just plug the name into a search engine to see the selection. 3. The Trout King This book is the equivalent of the Shootout at the O.K. Corral for fly fishing enthusiasts. The story revolves around a fly fishing tournament in an out of the way location. The undefeated local angler goes against an out of town visitor. Both hate to lose. The friendly competition turns serious and the pages just start flipping buy. You can buy it online at any bookstore for $15 or so. 4. Nomad Fly Fishing Journals A little self-promotion here. Nomad Fly Fishing Journals are compact writing journals that let anglers keep notes on their efforts. They can note the fishing conditions, which flies worked the best, who the fished with and notes on what they should do differently next time. You can click the link at the bottom of this article to see the journals and expect to pay $25 for the journal and waterproof case. Frankly, it is pretty hard to go wrong when buying fly fishing gifts. Any of the above fly fishing gift ideas will make great Christmas presents.
